OUR HISTORY

Since our foundation, we have promoted the conservation of the Nambi Sanctuary through environmentally friendly projects at the mouth of the Grande de Tarcoles River. We focus on working with local communities to promote environmental education and raise awareness of the importance of mangroves for biodiversity.

OUR Vision

We envision a future in which mangroves not only serve as a pillar for the biodiversity of our planet but also play a key role in local economies, providing millions of dollars in ecosystem services and resources, thereby strengthening the economy and communities that depend on them. Our goal is to create  a future where mangroves thrive and play a crucial role in climate resilience and community well-being.

OUR mission

Our Mission is to conserve, protect, and restore mangroves in Costa Rica, recognizing their importance for biodiversity and the fight against climate change. We work on community education projects and collaborate with scientists to ensure the sustainability of these ecosystems. We empower local communities, fostering their participation in mangrove protection and promoting practices that generate both environmental and economic benefits

our location

Our projects cover a total area of 298 hectares, of which 288 hectares and 4,742.77 square meters correspond to the Nambe Sanctuary, with 10 hectares dedicated to nearby projects. The mangrove is essential for coastal protection, providing habitat for various species, and carbon capture, helping mitigate climate change. Its proximity to the Grande de Tarcoles River and Carara National Park positions it as a key project for conservation and ecological connectivity in Costa Rica's Gulf of Nicoya.

OUR traction

The Nambi Sanctuary is recognized as a vital mangrove ecosystem for the survival of the scarlet macaw, an endangered species. This mangrove was first the subject of a detailed study by a group of American biologists in the late 1990s. documented in Chapter 22 of the book The Large Macaws: Their Care, Breeding, and Conservation. This scientific backing reaffirms the importance o the reserve  an strengthens our conservation and restoration projects, positioning us as a key player in the protection of this valuable habitat

OUR objectives

Asorebiara aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to climate action, life below water, life on land, and sustainable industry, innovation, and infrastructure.
